What the GEO checker checks

The GEO checker loads your home page and up to 49 more pages, the most important first. It reads them the way the bots of ChatGPT, Claude and Perplexity get them: without JavaScript. That gives the grade and the breakdown:

  • Access for AI: whether robots.txt lets in the search bots of ChatGPT, Claude, Perplexity, Google and Copilot, whether your server turns them away, whether the text stands in the HTML without JavaScript and whether your pages allow snippets.
  • Content: whether your company facts stand as schema.org data, whether pages answer questions, whether they name a date and whether longer texts have subheadings.
  • Technology: response time, page size and sitemap.

What the check finds, we fix as a GEO agency. How your website does in Google search, the SEO checker shows.

Frequently asked questions

Is the GEO checker free?

Yes. Enter the address of your website and see the grade and the breakdown right away, no sign-up and no email address.

Does the GEO checker ask ChatGPT directly?

No. It checks your website the way the AI searches fetch it: whether they may read it, whether they get the text without JavaScript and whether they find company facts, questions and a date. Whether ChatGPT names you also depends on what other sites write about you, such as directories, reviews and trade portals.

What is the difference between SEO and GEO?

SEO brings your pages up in Google's results. GEO makes AI searches such as ChatGPT, Perplexity or Google's AI Overviews read and understand your website and name it as a source. Much of it overlaps. How your website does on Google, the SEO checker shows.

Should we block GPTBot in robots.txt?

You can. GPTBot and ClaudeBot collect texts to train the models. For their answers, ChatGPT and Claude read with bots of their own, OAI-SearchBot and Claude-SearchBot. These have to stay open, or ChatGPT and Claude will not name your website as a source. Google-Extended only concerns Gemini, not the AI Overviews in Google search.

What does it mean when the fetch as an AI bot fails?

Your server or a service in front of it, such as Cloudflare, turns away requests that name themselves ChatGPT, Claude or Perplexity. Since July 2025 Cloudflare blocks AI bots on new websites by default. In the settings the search bots can be let in again, the training bots can stay blocked.

Does the GEO checker count an llms.txt?

No. The large AI searches do not read it so far, and Google says its AI Overviews need no files of their own. It does no harm either.

Do you also fix the issues the GEO checker finds?

Yes. After the check a form appears below the result, with the result already in the message. The initial consultation is free.
