What sets us apart
From version to version
We have been moving the website of the Chamber of Architects Baden-Württemberg since 2001 and have been moving it from version to version since TYPO3 4. Today it runs, for around 26,100 members, 31 packages of our own, from the register of architects to the seminar program, connected to Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central. For the Bavarian Chamber of Architects we are currently taking byak.de from TYPO3 8 to TYPO3 13, with a new member area and a new search.
We have a proven process for upgrades like these: it covers code, extensions, data structures and caching, and runs through a test environment before the new version goes live. How long your version still gets security updates is shown on our TYPO3 page.
At the AKBW, members log in with their register number. Their data comes from Business Central automatically, and when a member changes something in the portal, the change goes back there. The head office keeps member data in one place, and portal, register of architects and firm directory follow. At the Bavarian Chamber of Architects, the upgrade brings a new member area.
Registration, an additional field of practice, deletion: at the AKBW every application is a definition in a file. The membership application has 91 fields, 64 of which write straight into a field in Business Central, so the case workers check instead of typing. Known data is filled in, and applications can be saved in between and completed after sending. An upgrade adapts forms and interfaces like these to the new version instead of rebuilding them.
At the AKBW, the training search finds around 620 recognised courses through Solr, together with the program of the IFBau. The register of architects is public, and the firm directory on architektenprofile.de gets its data through an interface of its own. The seminar program also leaves the portal as XML for the education server and for the prepress of the printed catalogue. At byak.de, a more powerful search is part of the upgrade.
After the upgrade we can host the website on our servers and keep looking after it. At the AKBW the platform has grown this way one building block at a time since 2018, and every new block connects to what is there: the app to the building database, the digital card to the member area, the AI to the application form.
